My name is Karim Fares. I was born in Egypt and I currently live in Oslo, Norway.
Photography began for me as a simple curiosity. For many years I photographed with my phone, capturing small moments in everyday life. Over time, that curiosity grew into a deeper passion, and eventually I decided to start working with a camera.
My greatest influence comes from cinema. I have always been fascinated by films—the atmosphere, the colors, and the way a single frame can tell a story. Watching movies made me start paying attention to light, composition, and the quiet details that often go unnoticed. In many ways, photography became my way of creating my own cinematic frames.
Today I mainly focus on street photography. I enjoy walking through the city with my camera, observing people and the subtle moments that happen in ordinary life: someone waiting for a bus, a reflection in a rainy street, a quiet interaction between strangers. I am particularly drawn to atmosphere—rain, snow, reflections, and the soft light of northern evenings.
I currently photograph with Fujifilm X cameras, which feel natural and intuitive for the way I like to work. For me, however, the camera is only a tool. What matters most is the ability to observe and to find meaning in simple moments.
I see street photography as a form of visual poetry — a way of discovering beauty in everyday life.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my work. I hope you enjoy the photographs, and I always appreciate feedback.
